I finished...... that is all I can say

Just wanted to let everyone know I finished.  No where near my goal times,  very disappointing.  Lets just say-  65 degrees at the beginning and 85 + degrees for the last 13 miles.    It was BRUTAL!!!

I will come back with more details soon,  but I did finish!!  In a not so glorious 5:41. BLAH!!  But I finished  and got my medal.

  1. I was thinking about you today - saw your time in the paper. I'm sorry it didn't go as you'd hoped, but you did it! It was rough out there...

  3. Good for you to finish yesterday! I was thinking of all of you in that BRUTAL hot weather. WIth the tall buildings around? It must have been deadly!

  4. Ok, really? What did you tell me when I wasn't happy with my time three weeks ago? Something along the lines of "But you did it. How many people can say they ran a marthon, in 85 degree weather, and FINISHED??!" I know you wanted to do better (trust me, I know! LOL), but the fact of the matter is that 26 miles in 85 degree temps is a big challenge. Not everyone finished, but YOU DID! :) Be proud, and wear that metal everywhere! LOL

  5. Christa,
You should not feel disappointed. You should feel proud(and sore and exhausted)! I have been following your blog and you did everything you could to prepare for the race. You can't control the weather, though. Great Job!

  6. This is my greatest fear. being warm during the latter part of my first marathon. I really do not run well in the heat. But still, you should be proud that you were able to finish. Congratulations =)

  8. Congratulations! It was HOT for us runners here as well. I have a nice sunburn despite sunscreen. I would do it all over again too. I'm proud of you! Awesome job :)

  9. Congrats on finishing! Sorry it didn't go as planned. Too bad it was like the hottest day of the month.

  10. don't EVER apologize for your finish time. OWN IT.

And, look at the bright side, when you come to RIchmond and run the marathon next year, you'll really be able to improve. (see how subtle that was?)
